Blocking Public from Uploaded Site

John isn’t talking about the VPS IP address as that is irrelevant. It is the IP address your ISP allocates to your computer that is the relevant one for this situation.

If people would read what I said, things would make even more sense!!

Go back and read Post #9 - there is a copy of it above.

As I said before, I have a STATIC IP address on my computer because I set one up on my hotspot.

What is not to understand about this???

It seems that some people in this thread don’t understand the difference between “ISP” and “VPS” - which is ludicrous.

It also seems that some people don’t understand the difference between a “Static IP” and “Dynamic IP”, nor between a “Dedicated IP” and a “Shared IP”…

While people are trying to correct me on things I never said and that aren’t true, maybe you should also re-read Post #13 and see that I solved this problem on my own a couple of days ago…

And he gave you instructions on how to do that. So why do we still have this topic going?

He didn’t answer my OP, and even after I posted the correct solution that I came up with (See Post #13), @John_Betong keeps asking me about my ISP…

Smells like “trolling” to me…

I’m afraid you are wrong on the trolling part… not sure why you say that, he gave you an easy solution that involved the .htaccess and your given IP on post #4.

That solution would have worked just fine for your testing and limited it to your computer (since you have a static IP). I can easily see why he felt you were confused on IP addresses because of the references to the VPS that were continuously made.

Hardly matters at this point however, you eventually used the cPanel you had to solve the problem (it is amazing what spending just 5 minutes of time within your administration area can do).

I didn’t ask how to block a page… I asked how to block the entire website.

And regardless, why the incessant talk about how my IP changes and about how ISP’s work???

I mentioned it because he referenced in Post #2

And then he later asked me “How much extra did it cost for a dedicated IP address?”

I brought up my VPS’s Dedicated IP because John brought it up…

It does matter, because John keeps posting and posting about it!

And then a whole pack of you joined in on some argument about how ISP’s work - and that I don’t understand.

A lack of reading what was said by me seems to be a common theme in this thread.

Not sure why things got so off track, because I was pretty clear in my OP and answering people’s questions.

Whatever.

because of the problems with the “anti-hotlink approach” thought in post #3

Sorry, my guess would be because it seemed you just weren’t “getting it” for some reason and others were trying to explain it differently in hopes that you would understand.

So, now that you have confirmed that you do understand, any further question?
