Best solution for restaurant ( online order )

Hello,

I need to build a website for a small restaurant. The owner wants clients to order and pay for food online. He has also created some special offers for his clients such as a discount for the first order, free appetizers for orders above $20, etc.

Anyway, i want to pick your brain about what is the best solution for this website.

What would you use as far as the shopping cart is concerned ?

There are many possibilities here, and a lot of ifs and buts.

Is this for in house orders or fast food deliveries?

As I read it you have a few key requirements:

  1. Display of food items, categorised by type (eg starters, mains, desserts, sundries)
  2. Special offers (multiple product prices, specify free items if a certain criteria is met)
  3. Discount codes (use once or use multiple times)
  4. Customer accounts (?)

…anything else?

It is for fast food deliveries. You go on the site, pick your meal, checkout and wait for the delivery guy to arrive at your house with your order.
Yes, there will be special offers and free items, as well as customer accounts.

There are so many choices out there. This is the reason why I started this thread, to get some insight into what is the best solution.

You can some of the same features which are used in mobile apps for restaurant owners such as:

  • proper design of your menu (it’s always good for clients to check your menu beforehand)
  • give them certain delicious bonuses for ‘following’ or ‘liking’ you on social networks (Twitter, Facebook, Google+)
  • online ordering is another useful feature, such an option excludes any errors and saves everyone’s time.
  • you can try adding a search by location
  • you can refresh your content with adding news and events (kind of blog)
  • also it’s good to add an ability to read and post reviews (people trust them more than to ads)
