Hi
Im putting together a site that has one product (physical) and im looking for suggestions to the best/easiest solution.

What type of product is it? Just put up a simple site and throw in a Paypal / Google Checkout / 2Checkout button on it.
Do you have already existing site with your own design or it will be completely new site?
Its a certificate service, so in essence it sells pieces of paper. I need to be able to take credit cards as well as paypal etc… I would also like to have at least some small CRM management as certificates will be updated every year.
Completely new.
Any suggestions ???
So your design will be completely new, I think it will be unique design or
you plan to use templates?
Here is rather good templates directory: http://www.siteground.com/templates_gallery.htm
You can check for ZS Cart - SAAS web based ecommerce solutions provider.
Not sure whats that got to do with my original question ??
thx
I have a one product site and currently use Big Commerce
I am not 100% happy but it is the best out there
Some above suggestion mentions Paypal, Google Checkout.
The down side is that you don’t have a CRM to track the orders which is a big drawback for me
That’s the easiest solution I can recommend.
You make no sense…
Maybe Interspire (ISC) cart (server version of Big Commerce), so far so good,
Product really not bad, especially if you are a php fever.
For reference only.

Ok, so you need solution for only one product. It means that ordinary shopping cart will not work for you? You do not need any design themes, categories, product search boxes, and other things, am I right?
In this case you can use Product Tags to show information about only one product, e.g.: you can add <?php ProductInfo(35); ?> tag to any PHP page on your site and it will show your customers information about product with ID 35.
More details about product tags:

The other solution you can use is PayPal “Buy Now” buttons.

I hope it will help.
Chewy, there are several “out of the box”
solutions that will provide the complete business
solution that you’re looking for.
1 important issue is the budget.
Are you looking for a hosted (monthly fee) solution
or a 1 time fee type of application?
Care to list them ?? Budget isnt that important at the moment.
I am interested in this too and would love to hear some suggestions. I need a non-template driven store so that I can customize the page easily and add a lot of content to the product page like product videos, reviews, specs, and features. The popular template base carts like magento, x-cart, & bigcommerce are nice but an overkill. I just want to change the static xhtml/css/jQuery to customize my pages.
I have Yahoo MS for another store. You can easily make static pages and just hook in with their Store Tags to pass the the product-id to the checkout pages which is on yahoo.net. It works okay. I just don’t like Yahoo charging 1% of sales for no added value.
Anyone have other recommendations for non-template base carts?
If all you are looking for is 1 item you could use a simple shopping cart and a gateway tied to a merchant account. Do a google search for a free shopping cart and you should be able to find something inexpensive. I know of a company that may be able to help if you’re interested.
1 Physical product …hmmm.
Your needs are greater than you think
if you’re thinking about a full business
soluton versus a simple “1 product transaction”.
For example, since it’s a physical product,
you will need a way to track shipments so
a built in fulfillment module is a big help.
Support … will you offer a support ticket
system? What about Live chat to help you
sell more …or maybe a Click To Call solution?
Will you use affiliates to leverage your sales?
What about coupons and / or gift certificates?
Will you ever improve this product based
upon customer feedback? If so, then you might
want an automatic “suggest a feature” to guide
you and track suggestions.
…and last but not least, will this be your
last and only website? Will you want to start over
with every website / product you create or will
you want to use the same system for all of
them?
This may cloud the issue a bit but I’ve never
met an online bsiness person that didn’t have
greater long term plans than selling 1 product.
