Instead of a MacBook Pro I got a iMac which will be here in a few days. So I will use my Ipad and a Remote Desktop app to go portable. I would like to find the best app. But with 20 or so viable options this would take awhile. Is there someone out there that has played with the best of them and could possibly share which solution they chose and why?
needs to be lightweight on my iMac since I assume it will run 24/7

From obsessively looking around myself splashtop 2 looks like the best so far. Any others I should look at and why? Others that seem top on the list are jump desktop and logmein. Anyone obsessively try all these and find the best so I don’t have to?
It would really depend on how much you want to spend and how much work your willing to do yourself, there are many open source software out there like VNC that would be free but in turn need more manual set up. If you are proficient enough with networking and computer’s you can set this up for yourself with a little research and some elbow grease, if you have the money then I like to use log me in pro. While they do have a free version it is limited in the thing’s it can do for example you cannot transfer files to and from connected device and other limitations.
Lastly, you can also set your self up with a VPN which also come in paid and free version’s that respectively involve a certain amount of knowledge in networking and computer’s themselves, but are all feasable options I would recommend doing research on each one of these topics and see which is viable for the set up you are looking for.
