How does a person set in his ways break the pattern of sloth and slowness to become a faster more efficient designer and coder? Is there a frame of mind one must get into, or any practices one must take? I really would like to know.
Thanks
 for me… its either in you to be efficient and motivated or its not, if its not in you, one can learn to be like that it just takes dedication, patience and will power - its a test of character I guess how well you apply yourself to your work - naturally I’m thorough and efficient in everything I do, I like it done right and to a high standard - it’s just how I am, don’t get me wrong I do have times where I have lazy days and dont feel like doing anything but when its something i know I have to get done and I need to apply myself then I make it happen, just stop thinkin about what has to be done and just do it, simple…whats the alternative, don’t bother and laze around…whats that going to achieve other than depression and disappointment in urself :confused2
Very good point mizwizzy!
What I do is set myself achievable goals, I have a great workflow because I use some software to manage my stuff. Keeping schedules, to-do lists, and all those other things which keep your brain balanced is a fantastic way of ensuring that you give yourself as much time as you require, and it’ll speed up your design as you’ll spend less time thinking about what you need to-do and more time acting upon your intentions.
im a fan of the old pen and paper for writing out what I have to do, i can’t use software to do this for me, I wish I could but I’m just not like that I have to see it in black and white infront of me and tick it off as I go along or scrap the note and I know its taken care of - but yeah this is also a good point - create a checklist and just go through them one by one
raises hand
also a fan of paper and pen checklists. very helpful for me to actually cross stuff off a list throughout the day…lets my (occassionally) lazy backside know I’m actually making progress.
I ditched the paper and pen for a more digital solution (I always lose bits of paper!). The product I currently use is MyLife Organized, it’s probably the best to-do manager I’ve come across (offline or online). It isn’t free but I’ve been using it for about 3 months now and it’s really done wonders for my workflow!

thanks for the link Alex, i’ll check that out - don’t knock it until you try it right?
Post-its. Lots of Post-its!
I have post-it notes for each thing I have to do. If I don’t get them done then the wall behind my screen looks messy - so I do the job, remove the post-it! Very digital eh?
thats my organisational system too tailslide its messy but its not at the same time!
