Batch Image Resize with Whitespace

Hello All!

I am setting up a WebStore with Amazon and one of the most annoying features is that there thumbnails only take into account image width. I have some products that have very narrow widths and lots of height. Does anyone know of a good program that would resize a tall image and also add white space if the width is not long enough.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Obviously Photoshop is a tool for this job, but if you don’t have that, there are quite a few cheap and/or free alternatives that can probably do this. There are also some online equivalents of Ps that may do this. If you Google “Photoshop alternatives” you’ll find lots of links to free/cheap image editing software.
