Batch converting gif to png

I’m looking to take my gifs (with transparency) and make them all pngs. Hundreds. No editing, just converting.

Can anyone recommend a good program?

You could save that conversion process as an “action” in Photoshop, and then apply it to all images.

There are various programs for doing such processes and IrfanView should be able to do that. Personally I’d probably use PNGOUT if I were batch changing GIF files into superior PNG-8 files.

I would use photoshop actions, setup your action once and off you go

VodkaFish, Is there a reason why you want them in PNG, you do realise any compression or loss in the GIF will still exist in the PNG (because it was initially that)?

I do realize that, but there are some sites that are reading these images and distorting them very much. If I convert them to png or jpg (giving them white backgrounds), this won’t happen.
