Hello all, I am new here and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. We are a band looking to move from myspace and set up a dotcom and offer our CD’s and other merch for sale, as well as all the rest that is involved with band news tour dates yadda yadda. So I need some reliable webhosting sites and was refered here for some info. Any help very welcome and thank you very much in advance. Bryan
I suggest to contact the best web hosting company to fulfill your needs. I will also suggest you a brand name “www.seoworkgroup.com”, just see the site and contact them for the bestservices.
I would recommend livethunder.com, although they do not offer CC processing they have a fully functional shopping cart, and simple instructions to buy web hosting from them.
I would also suggest you get the unlimited hosting package if you are expecting a lot of people to visit your website.
It sounds as if you’re probably new to hosting and site design, so you may want to look for a host that offers website templates that you can use to easily design a website.
I think that is also recommended to check what developers suggest you using for this purpose.
Check webhostingstuff.com. That is honest review site and I believe there you will be able to find some good web hosting providers.
take a look at hostgator.com
and justhost.com
but i do recommend, if your site is going to be expecting alot of people visiting it, i would say that webhosting isnt any good, you will need to take the next step before you have even started, by looking into geting a vps.
the last thing you want is for a webhosting to suspend your website, becuase you have to many visits, ( eg, using to much CPU )
are you expecting alot of visits?
I use www.hostgator.com for my web hosting needs, and it would certainly be possible to build or setup a site with a shopping cart and CC processing using them. They’ve been pretty cheap and reliable in my experience. However, setting up a shopping cart on a regular web host is going to be a much more complex process than using a solution like bandcamp or cdbaby. Another possible solution might be www.shopify.com.
Best of luck,
Marc
Thank you very much Marc. Those look very promising.
I am pretty sure that you can use a custom domain with bandcamp, and sell CD’s. As an example, see http://jordanfrye.com/
But if you dont like bandcamp maybe also checkout www.cdbaby.com
Thanks for that reply but we are looking more to set up a domain and have a band web page which will also have e-commerce for sale of our material.
I would checkout http://bandcamp.com/
Although those sites are great for what they offer I suppose I should have added a little more info. Selling Cd’s will be a part of the page but I am more interested in setting up a full band web site containing multiple pages so on and so on. As such we are just looking for reliable web hosting service from a reputible company that also offers shopping cart, credit card processing and hopefully not too complicated to set up. Hope this helps clear up what kind of info I am seeking.
Marc I really do appreciate your efforts to help.
Thanks, Bryan.
