I am trying to implement charting into one of my sites, and I am having a hard time styling the border to make it transparent.
I’ve attached a image so you can see what it is I am talking about. I have yet to figure out what needs to be set to get rid of the white under the drop shadow …
If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear how to get rid of this …
Is the white a part of the background image? If so, you’ll have to re-make the images to have a transparent background. If the images already have a transparent background you could try defining the background of the chart as transparent.
Any chance of seeing a live link? Or maybe the markup and styling?

There are no images involved, I’m just trying to leverage the built in styling as much as possible. The boder is set to embossed, with a border to get the effect you see there. I have been trying just about every combination of the built in styling to get rid of it.
At first I didn’t even realize it was there since the page I first started to develop it on had a white background … :o(
I have gone home for the day, and cannot access the code again until I go to work tomorrow. I’ll post the code with all of the styling elements so you can see what I have changed from defaults as far as the charting code goes.

Somewhere something is setting the white background. Maybe it is just a default value. If no images are invovled, what is the output of the chart? Flash?
There are also a lot of other charting solutions available. My favourite being:
open flash chart 2.
Then there is also a jquery plugin that converts any table of data into a chart for you.
But if you want to use your solution, post your code and hopefully some1 can help you.

I don’t know what sort of code this is but it looks like you’ve set the background as white at this line: Chart1.ChartAreas(“ChartArea1”).BackColor = Color.White
and here: Chart1.BackColor = Color.White
I rarely use the inline styling built into the controls. 99.9% of the time it’s a job better left to CSS.
I’ve attached another screenshot.
The white background that is definied, is defined for the chart background.
I’ve used code behind to style the charts to make it easier to apply to multiple charts as I keep adding the charts to the different pages.
there are some properties for settign transparency color, … not sure if it is because I have not defined that …? I ddi try that and set it to white … but there was no difference.
You have White defined in two areas. First in Chart1.BackColor, which I believe is the one you need to change and second in Chart1.ChartAreas(“ChartArea1”).BackColor which I believe is the area you point to in your second picture, correct?
If so, change Chart1.BackColor to Transparent.

Ok, changing that changes the top color that is used for the gradient. White is the top color set, with the brown color set for the bottom.

I am now 99.9% there … Now I am seeing a sliver of white along the top and left side of the chart … 
That’s part of the image created. The only way I could figure to remove it was to also remove the backcolor of the chart: backcolor=“Transparent” which may take away some of your other styling but give it a go.
Hmm, … ok so I don’t like that the grey shows through as the default, but it must be because of the embossing. But as a decent compromise, I’m just changing the colors around a bit … I will play with it a bit more and should be able to come up with a decent combination of colors to work just fine.
