I’ve seen a number on very attractive looking WP themes being produced and some look really slick (on sites like templatemonster etc). My question is, what are the potential issues with these themes? I like the idea that you can also use a plugin to change the layout, especially as I’m a novice when it comes to WP format and page layout changes. BUT - do these themse and plugins cause problems with the coding. Are these themese not all they seem.
Would be very interested to read comments regarding potential pitfalls when it comes to SEO issues.
I think SEO is not associated with the type of theme you are going to use. There are separate plugins like all-in-one seo that could handle your SEO… not the theme. I can rank whatever them I use.
As Jun Valasek already said, the theme has very little to do with the optimization. When chosing a theme I would look out, to see if it well coded and compatible to the latest Wordpress version. It’s really annoying when you find a nice theme, buy it and afterwards discover all sorts of code errors within it. But then again, this has very little to do with SEO.
The plugins you use probably have a bigger effect on your WordPress site than the theme, but there are a few themes that cater to “SEO blogs” like Socrates and another that I can’t think of right now.
It doesn’t work with the theme as long as it was not a Flash Theme. You can work on your website become SEO friendly if you know how to do Onpage optimisation.
Themes don’t really have anything to do with the SEO process, except for the fact that some themes are more compatible with plugins and certain scripts which allow advanced SEO options. Almost all the wordpress themes are SEO friendly!
