Are adnetworks honest with us?

I been using adnetworks for over 10 years and I was making good money with them untill I started selling to advertisers directly and making 10 times more. now I’m thinking are adnetworks honest with publishers when they claim they split the revenue with publishers and some claim they give you 60% of what the advertiser pay.

what do you think?

Ofcause they do, but everyone is different

One example is:
Client pays 2$ CPM for his ad being pushed into network, then they push to the publisher at 0.20-0.60 after your skills in negotiation.
Thats not 60%

I’m pretty sure the established networks (both 1st and 2nd tier) are being honest with their publishers - they would be breaching various contracts if they weren’t.

The reason that you get so much more from selling ads directly is targeting.
Burst used to sell the odd campaign very targeted to my site just a couple of years ago for $10-12 CPM, and I know niche networks sometimes even get more than that. The advertisin that generates just the $0.30-$1 eCPMs that publishers often see from networks are sold at lower prices because they tend to be targeted down only to the rough content niche (eg. entertainment, or technology, or family) and sold in bulk. The better targeted an ad is, the higher you can charge the advertiser - that is why Facebook is generating decent eCPMs these days - they leverage the information you provide them to sell very very targeted ads against.

Yes some fly by night networks may not be being honest with publishers, but equally some don’t even pay - it is always worth doing your homework.

I think adnetworks are good for small publishers but if the website is good then direct ads would be a better option.

We cant say anything about it.If you are in doubt choose only big companies.

I Think big companies are honest becase it is their profitable bussines )

I agree with. Now I’m working with ad network on 60/40 revenue share basis.

If ad network offers very very big money this is first indication that you should start to think about network’s honesty.
