Anybody using Google Domains yet?

Just got an invite today and will check it out later, but was wondering whether anybody else has been using the service. (Link https://domains.google.com/)

I don’t quite understand what it is. Is it just a Registrar? Are they giving out free registrations as part of the beta invites?

It’s just a registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap. However, at the moment it’s only available in USA, so most of us - including me - are out of luck.

Still waiting on my invitation. I wonder how Google plans to set themselves apart from the plethora of other registrars out there?

Got my invitation a few weeks ago, but since it’s US-only I feel like it was wasted on me :smirk:

Keen to check it out when/if they launch worldwide, though.

We got an invite, but we have not tried it here.

I ended up getting my invite too, but I don’t see any reason to use it. Namecheap is cheaper and is a pretty great service. I don’t like trusting my entire identity and everything I own to a single company.

I use Namecheap for all of my domains, @mawburn… I’ve got a GD invite but I’ve only used it for one domain I don’t use. If Google gets into the shared hosting business… there might be some serious competition.

Namecheap though, don’t follow email alerts for their blog that details trouble they’re having, or whatever. I had to unsubscribe after I decided I don’t trust them at all. Emails about problems like every day

I’ve never had domain issues with them though, that I can recall.

I’m sure Google is reliable, just no particular incentive to move. They’re a buck or whatever more expensive, which doesn’t much matter, but… they’re not offering anything unique yet that I’ve seen.

i am using google domains, it has a cleaner interface and sometimes its good to have all your eggs in one basket since Google does no evil lol

I have six domains with GoDaddy and I intend to move more to them. One advantage is that privacy is a free option whereas others charge an additional $10 or more per year for it. Google does have customer support by phone.
