What is the best FREE program for anti malware, spyware?
Malware bytes have a free version and superantispyware can be quite useful.
I’ve used Malwarebytes, SpywareBlaster and SpyBot and found them all pretty good.
I thought you ran Linux? Are you cheating with Windows now?

No - but (a) I used to run Windows and (b) I volunteer at an office which uses Windows, and I’ve installed them on that machine, too.
Also, we do have a dual-boot, originally just for testing, but we have to keep it for now, because Kobo Desktop isn’t available for Linux. :bawling: (It’s the only thing - other that testing - for which either of us ever boots into Windows, and Running Bear refers to it as “going over to the dark side”. :x)[/ot]
As he should!
I throw in my vote for Malware bytes. I’ve used it on my own machine for years for scanning.
I’ve never had a need to buy it, but I recently purchased it for my 90yr old grandparents who kept downloading spyware and adware and they are very happy with it. It’s been about 2-3months and they don’t have a spec of anything like that on their computer… which is a hell of an accomplishment! lol
Good point @mawburn; the freeware version is run on demand whereas the paid version of Malware bytes runs all the time and should stop malware before it gets installed.
I purchased anti-malware (malwarebytes) today, so it’s ok:)
Avast is the best program for this purpose.
