Am I blocked from Google?

Hi,

So my site has only been live for a couple of days, which would explain why it hasn’t shown up on the index, but I have “Requesting reconsideration of your site” link on the side, which has me paranoid.

Should I get a message saying that I m banned? Or am I being excessively inpatient?

I m almost certain Ive been blocked.

Story goes: I had an old website on my server, say, oldwebsite.com, then uploaded new content, and parked newwebsite.com. Newwebsite.com now “features” the same content as oldwebsite.com. That and I also tried to add the .net and .org to Google webmaster.

So I m in the process of unparking my old domain, and removing the other TLDs in Google webmaster. Then to write a lengthy explanation to Google :frowning:

How to check if your site is in Google:

  1. Go to google.com
  2. In ther search box, type site:yoursite.com
  3. Press ‘Google Search’

If you get no results then your site isn’t indexed. If you get some results then your site is indexed, and not blocked.

that button is always there and it can take up to a month for the spider to find you

not sure about the rest but give it more than 2 days before you panic

was there a problem with the old website?

if not do you plan to make the new one the main site or what? If that’s the new real site can you 301 all the old urls to the new site (and make the old one extinct?)

having duplicate content for 2 days probably isn’t something to worry about, unless you were really unlucky.

Agree with previous poster and see if google actually has even found the content …

Why don’t you set up a 301 redirect for the old website to the new website? Duplicate content isn’t the best answer to having success on Google.

This is the only answer to know if you’ve been google banned.

Thanks to everyone.

Turned out to be extreme paranoia. Funnily enough, the sites started appearing on the index last night.

Paranoia … or just impatience
