Hi, i just had AG Google analytics (joomla extension) installed. Could any help me understand the figures on the attached file? Would we like to see bigger numbers or smaller numbers? it’s because over the weekends, it dropped/rise from 150 to 600 on google search engine.
Thanks Mittineague
By that i meant if i want my pages indexed more, the larger the number the better?
In any case, is there instances where people don’t want to get their pages indexed?
The image shows 2 bar graphs each with the results for 8 search engines.
In each graph the top corresponds to whatever search engine had the highest amount. i.e. Indexed pages = 600 (probably rounded off) because Google had that and that’s the highest value of the 8, and Backlinks = 1 because both Google and Altavista had that highest value.
The height of the other search engine’s results in the Indexed pages graph are scaled in relation to the highest value. It’s hard to determine the exact number for Yahoo Alltheweb and Altavista because Google skews the scale so much, but a rough guess-timate would be between 10 and 25 pages each.
Higher numbers? Do you want more pages indexed? By other search engines too? Do you want more backlinks?
For me, I’d like evey page indexed except for the duplicate content - i.e. canonical pages.
But I have heard of those that monkey around with it trying to manipulate Page Rank. I couldn’t care less about PR so for me it’s a non-issue. But I don’t know what camp you’re in.
As for having more indexed in the other search engines, I guess ideally they’d all have all of them too. But I don’t know what the market share is for those others. I’m guessing Google, Yahoo and Bing are the top 3 though. Still, if the others have users too it would be nice to have them know about my pages even if for only a small percentage of users.
As for backlinks, I guess the more the better - as long as they’re from relevant sites. That should help bring more traffic to my site from those interested in it.
No one has the answers?
