Adding Text To A JPG Image

I’ve been looking through google results for a while now and can’t find a site (or program) that I can use to add text to a jpg image, has a selection of fonts, and will justify the text to the right. Even Photoshop didn’t come up for "add text to jpg image. It looked like www.online-image-editor.com/ would work but it always leaves a copy of your first text at the top of the image and it doesn’t keep the text within the image. What sites or programs do you use for this?
Thanks,

Chris

Are you looking for the term “watermarking” or talking about “captions”?
i.e. part of the image itself or to be displayed with it.

That’s a very basic thing to do in Photoshop. Click the Text tool and start typing on the image. You can move the text selection around, right justify , choose font etc.

I would have thought any decent image editor could do this. I did it for years with an early version of Paintshop Pro, and more recently with Paint.Net (which I am happy to recommend). Choosing fonts and styles is no problem, and you can generally position the text exactly where you want it.

Regarding “justifying text to the right”, if you mean that you want to right-align the text, that’s generally easy enough, but you have to do it manually - by dragging each line of text into position. If you mean you want full justification, then I agree that image editors aren’t usually able to do that. One solution might be to compose the text in a word processor, and then take a screen shot, and merge it with the image. But I can’t imagine many occasions when you would need to do that.

I looked for “text” in Paint Shop Pro (Bought in 2007 I think) and didn’t find anything, then I tried again after you wrote. I found it. I started using Gimp 2.8 last night, but I think I’ll use PSP. Thanks for the help !

Delighted you have found a solution, Chris. PSP isn’t my favourite image editor, but it is a good basic tool, and reasonably easy to use.

I was delighted because I had a solution since 2007 or whenever I bought it. I’m no longer delighted because now that I got the title up, I can’t think of a slogan I like. Looking into slogans, it was fun reading some of the praise for the slogan, ‘The one beer to have when you’re having more than one.’

You can easily add text in your Image (in any format) using Adobe Photoshop. The icon kinda looks like this:

Click the icon and click the portion of the image where you want to place your text. Adjust the font size, spacing and color for best results.

Thanks but I learned of that T in PSP. One great thing I learned, proabably a decade after every one else, it that you can drag image files, at least jpg, to MS Word and print the image as a doc file. The advantage is that you can merge image files for simpler printing of merged files, like when you need to show a print of a selection of images, or if you have a small image you can merge it 2, or 4, or 8 (etc.) times over and print once, saving money on printing.

Thanks,

Chris
