Adding a blog to existing website

Hello,

I’m looking to add a blog page to an existing website… at this point we don’t want a whole CMS, just a single blog page that can be added to the current site framework. Any suggestions on something that is easy, user-friendly… and free

Thanks,

Monte

Alright, I guess that counts as my stupid question for the day. I had the impression that WordPress was only a full-fledged CMS. I’ve since learned the error of my ways  and have it installed on my PortableApps/XAMPP setup on my usb drive. Once I get everything figured out to where I can integrate it into the front page of the website, I’ll be good to go.

you can embed the blog into your page using an iframe but it still won’t be a part of the CMS (or lack of CMS) that runs the rest of your site. I personally like everything integrated, and if they can’t be integrated then i try to not force two systems into each other. one other option you can look at is that RSS feeds can be used on actual websites to show latest posts on your homepage, not just for feed readers. look around for RSS parsing applications.

The more I use Wordpress, the more I love it. It has 2 very important features that Blogger doesn’t yet support.

As it turns out… I did some more digging and it seemed the easiest way to get what I wanted was already in the WordPress Codex here:

Most other solutions focused on integrating the entire blog page into the site, where for my current meager purposes I was content to just have the most recent ‘n’ number of posts show up as the content on a specific page. No need for comments, RSS, etc. The blog page itself is still accessible if a person knows where to look, but I left it with the default theme for now

After playing with this a bit more… I can see how it would probably be beneficial to do the whole site in WordPress (or some other CMS), if for nothing else besides the ease of updating by someone other than myself  It may take a little while to get a theme worked out that I like, but hopefully it’ll be worth it.

Yes wordpress is really good and comprehensive. If your host has fantastico you can install Wordpress in a directory of your choice in one-click thereby having wordpress powering your blog but not necessarily the whole site

Wordpress is awesome and plus you can either put it on a sub domain or any other directory you create.
