Add a chat portal to a website

Hi there guys, here I am one more time asking questions! I hope you can hlep me!

How can I add a chat system to my website? Basically I want to add rooms for people to chat online at my website. For example, I’ll create something like chat.mysite.com and there I’ll put all the rooms… eg. chat.mysite.com/offtopic, chat.mysite.com/friendship and so on.

I’m not a great fan of chat systems and I don’t know where to start or what to choose. I know the IRC chat… but I can’t understand how it works and if I should use it. Let me know your suggestions and if you know some good software that allow me to do this thing! As always thank you a lot in advance!

It’s a paid software. You can either own it or pay monthly.

Check out Balloons.IO (https://github.com/rickyrauch/Balloons.IO) open source as it seems to offer multi-room chat server which is what you require.

Thank you casasoft. Balloons.IO seems to be great estetically, but I would need it to be installable on a MySQL server… and reading the install info on GitHub it doesn’t seems to be installable on a MySQL server… am I wrong?
