Why can’t I make a link work using the word “contact” in the accordion nav menu, or the word “bio” in the “About” dropdown? When I mouse over them I can see the url in the bottom of the browser frame, but when I click on it nothing happens.

It looks like the link’s default action is being cancelled by that or another script. If you insist on using scripts written by others, you need first to make sure their authors are around to answer questions about them. Scripts from Dynamic Dive rarely fall into that category.
