during forum registration I found one sentence here write “it is nofollow forum and you not try to spamming here”.But my question if I here registered can I get backlink.Could you explain me What is dofollow nofollow.
Hi manikah:
Nofollow refers to the rel=“nofollow” attribute placed in links, and universally recognized by search engines as a signal to disregard the link. Dofollow is the theoretical opposite of nofollow, simply meaning that the nofollow attribute isn’t present on a link.
As well as nofollowing its links, Sitepoint ensures that no one can harvest backlinks here by actually hiding forum users’ signatures from search engines. So, this place is pretty well useless as a backlink source
But hey, there are other great reasons to be here, like the nice friendly community!
Hope this helps.
No follow and do follow are the type of the links which seems created by the Google inorder to tackle the problem of link spamming activity across the web. Google only considers Do follow link as a backlink whereas no follow links are not considered by the Google.
hi…
You know SEO(Search engine Optimization) is basically improving the visibility of a website or to rank your site higher than the other millions of sites.
Yes you can get backlink.“Dofollow” means To tell the spiders to crawl a link.To tell the spiders to NOT crawl a link, you need to add the following code rel=“nofollow”.But dofollow link is better than nofollow.
rel=nofollow is an attribute which decides the property of the backlink. A nofollow backlinks doesn’t give you backlinking credit. Google or other major search engines doesn’t count nofollow backlinks in their link graph.
Whereas rel=dofollow attirbute makes your backlink dofollow… This means, you will get and pass credit for dofollow backlinks.
Its been said that nofollow backlinks are worthless… But Google does follow nofollow backlink for discovering new content on the web.
Also, nofollow backlink gives you referral traffic like an ordinary dofollow backlink.
Are you sure about that? What is the point of setting links as no-follow if the bots treat them exactly the same as any other?
You will not get any worthwhile backlinks from forum posts unless you are able to offer genuine solutions to problems other people are asking about with your website.
On Sitepoint Forums, signature links are marked as “nofollow”, which means that search engines won’t follow them. This means they are useless for backlinks. Links within the main part of the message are not marked as “nofollow”, but we have a strict moderation policy, so that any links that are not on-topic and relevant are quickly deleted, so again, they are useless for backlinks.
Pretty much any reputable forum will have similar policies to prevent spamming.
People have ruined what was once a good thing by registering on forums with the sole intent of getting their links out there.
Even if the links weren’t set to nofollow there are at least 25 posts to a thread page, meaning that your link would be diluted by a 25th (assuming that everyone has at least one link in their signature).
rel=dofollow attirbute makes your backlink dofollow… This means, you will get and pass credit for dofollow backlinks.
<snip/>
Except there’s no such thing as rel=“dofollow”. It doesn’t exist. It never has existed. It never will exist.
Also there is a second command to tell search engines not to index link or text or anything on the site - called <noindex>lalala</noindex>.
Nofollow tags not pass page rank value in other hand follow links pass link value.
FYI Manika is not asking if you what is SEO, Manika discuss about SEO, if this site is no follow could she still get a backlink…
BTW I used this forum for a long time and if i count my backlink I saw some results that came from this forum. so keep on posting and share you ideas…
