As I understand it, you only get one shot at voting; is there a way to look at the nominations before going to the voting stage?
Iâm sure there are nominees I donât know enough about to be able to cast an objective vote.
There sure is.
Just open the surveymonkey page and youâll be able to click back and forth through the different sections and see whoâs been nominated for what.
Your vote isnât cast until you click âSubmitâ at the end, so you can even shut the page and come back to it later.
Aha! Great stuff.
Had a look and noticed that the question is formulated as " the most helpful contribution ".
Are we voting for who has written the most outstanding article/post, or whose posts/articles combined over the year impressed us most?
As an aside, I find it very hard to choose between some people and Iâm sure Iâm not the only one. Would it be very difficult to implement a first and second? Or even a third?
How can you compare 15 very helpful short posts with one masterpiece from somebody else?
Unfortunately; there can only be one member you can choose per â2012 Awardâ. Regarding:
That generically means the person you felt has made the best âoverall contributionâ rather than a specific thread. Albeit you might have a member that makes fewer posts you prefer that are all of exceptional quality. In eithercase it doesnât mean one specific thread.
You just have to weigh-it-up best you can though obviously you are going to be looking for quality posts nonetheless.
There is only one badge for each award, so being able to vote for 1st, 2nd and 3rd would make it more complicated â and would cause no end of arguments about how the final winner was decided â there are so many different methods for allocating preference votes to come up with a single winner that it would be a major headache for those of us behind the scenes. Sorry @benbob, but youâll just have to make a decision!

A mixture of quality and quantity is what weâre looking for, someone who posts consistently good messages regularly. Another way to think about it is ⌠who would you miss most from the forum if they werenât there?
voted!
Slight misunderstanding here. A second vote doesnât have to result in a second place, but can be used to smooth out polling in the same way as used in presidential/mayoral elections.
Either way, weâve still got the hassle (and potential arguments) around what voting system to use, making it a lot more complicated to administer ⌠I donât know, but can SurveyMonkey handle preferential voting systems?
The simplest way to deal with this is, if you donât know someone then leave it blank and donât cast a vote, then you donât skew the results and your left to only vote on the people that you like for each category.
I voted⌠Iâm proud to see so many worthy people on the lists but⌠it has been so hard to pick up the best in each category! I hope that Iâve been fair although I donât know.
In the two categories where I was nominated (thank you to whoever wrote my name down for it) I voted for myself⌠haaaah! Just kidding! I would never vote for myself. It is just not right
Best of luck to everyone. We will soon know who are the winners⌠canât wait!
Just one week left to vote! Please help recognize those that volunteer their time for this community and let them know you appreciate their efforts!
I added my email address for vote validation, but please remove me from prize thingies. Thx.
Next year, a radio button for choosing whether to be entered for prizes. Validation is important.
Voted for my favorite Mikl and ralph.m
Thanks for all the help guys!
Me too. Voted. Good luck.
