I won’t even consider building a site with a non responsive design these days, everyone I know does the majority of their browsing from their phones.

Agreed! I loved my Windows Phone, but the lack of apps was always heartbreaking. In the past few months though, I’ve seen some remarkable HTML5 experiences that work great on the Windows Phone (especially the games on Atari Arcade: http://atari.com/arcade)

I really enjoy web development, but it is such a moving target! It’s supposed to be getting better and easier, but there’s so much to remember now. New HTML5 and its features, new CSS features, new browsers, mobile browsers & mobile devices, LESS, SASS, jQuery, shims, SIFR, animation, MVC, REST, .NET 1 – 4.5, markup semantics, SEO. On and on and on! I’ve done a lot of cool things over the years. I’ve written some neat web apps. I’ve made people money. I’ve saved people money. But, my least favorite part of this work is that I never feel like I’ve mastered anything. Can we just have like a year or two where we just enjoy knowing what we know for the moment??? LOL

Really pleased to see this message being pushed. For various reasons I have a Windows Phone, which on the whole I am happy with, but it is frustrating that almost all apps are written for iOS and Android, with Blackberry thrown in if you’re lucky. And while I prefer to use websites to apps for most things anyway, when organisations think that apps are the way to go but then don’t cover the full spectrum, it can leave those of us on different operating systems in the dark.

Love it. With all the different devices on the market it’s difficult to design native apps for everything – responsive design is a nice easy work around.
