Thanks for the kind words. Pulling out a mobile device might work in some situations today – I haven’t had a traditional job interview since mobile smartphones have been commonplace, so I’ve never tried it.

Agreed on your agreement – I’m not *against* any of the “latest and greatest” – it’s how progress is made, but I can’t be living on the bleeding edge my whole life. Those who can – more power to them :)

I’ve been in a couple of those “quiz” interviews. The best way I have found to handle the situation is to pull out my phone and Google the question. You get a weird look and then I explain that a good developer doesn’t know everything but knows how to find the answer.
I also have to agree that using the latest and greatest framework, technique or what have you, isn’t what makes a great developer. Effective communication and meeting the goals of the project is the key to success.
