Linda JenkinsonWhen you're hot, you're hot and this month SitePoint has the sizzle.

In this edition, Around the Town presents a raft of articles and blog posts with groundbreaking ideas and best practice principles. At the top of the list is Online Marketing Inside Out, our latest book that's boiling with ideas to fire up your business.

Pathfinders takes you on a trip across the Forums' navigation bar. Bring your camera because we uncover some scenery you'll want to make sure you see!

Simply Brilliant is definitely a hot spot this month where we honor some colorful new staff members and of course, we highlight our new Member of the Month (MOTM).

With all this activity, we had to provide a place to chill out with this month's Shout-out. We present the responses to "What's your Ideal Vacation Spot?" and pose the question, "How do you keep your cool?"

SitePoint Social presents our newest social groups, the perfect spot to chill out with your neighbors and warm up to new friendships.

Hello There gives you the chance to spread a little sunshine with a warm welcome to our newest members.

We're cookin', so read on for a taste!

New Book

Online Marketing Inside Out covers all you need to know to promote your business online. Learn how to reach potential customers through the latest marketing techniques like social media and podcasting, as well as traditional promotional methods. Authors Brandon Eley and Shayne Tilley comment,

"We've kept this book very practical so that you'll be able to start campaigns straight away."

SitePoint sweetens the pot with a bonus ebook, Darren (ProBlogger) Rowse's 31 Days to Build a Better Blog. Find more details in SitePoint Podcast #16 or read an excerpt from the book in "How to Create a Modern Press Release."

Simply Brilliant

MOTM: Alex Dawson

Marathon man Dan Schulz jumped numerous hurdles and crashed several roadblocks to post his interview with SitePoint Member of the Month, Alex Dawson in time for Alex's 26th birthday.

Alex cut his teeth on coding Microsoft chat rooms but today he gravitates towards accessible, standards-compliant web development. His expertise shows in his many posts throughout SitePoint Forums. Be sure to stop by and wish Alex a happy (belated) birthday and a warm congrats on his MOTM award!

New Staff

It's tough to say good-bye to a great Team Leader like r937, but Rudy has decided to step down from staff and enjoy SitePoint Forums as a regular member again. However, he chose an outstanding replacement for the Program Your Site forums in longneck. Although it's a tall order to fill Rudy's shoes, longneck is just the right person for the job and already looks very spiffy in his new blue bow tie!

Community Team Leader, Spike Z has been itching to see some more green in his team. Also, be sure to stop and say congrats to Molona and Nadia P. They're both looking good in green!

Shout-out

Last month we asked, What's Your Ideal Holiday Spot and season. Our poll registered summer as the favorite season with 59% of the vote, followed by spring (22%), autumn (11%), and winter (8%).

Our members covered all of the global terrain and many of the world's locations. The beach, the mountains, and an island were top favorites.

g0trocks is a member after my own heart with a dream vacation at "any place with a nice diving spot, impressive hotel, and resort with spa services and good food." That sounds like utopia to me!

If you're looking for ideas for your dream holiday, stop by the thread and take a look.

We all need to blow off some steam from time to time. This month we're asking, "How do you keep your cool?" Our poll choices:

  1. A glass of lemonade (or something stronger)
  2. A quick swim
  3. A cold shower
  4. I chill out in air conditioning
  5. I'm always totally cool
  6. When I'm hot, I'm hot, and I sizzle till I burn out!

Stop by, vote in the poll, and join in the fun!
