Arrow November Photo Showcase: Urban Landscape

This is one I've been meaning to do for a while, and so here it is finally.

In the northern hemisphere the climate is getting colder for winter, and then come the relentless grey skies (maybe just in Wales... ). For me that usually brings out the harsher side of urban landscape. I've got something in mind to share, but going to take a little time to tweak it to my satisfaction

By all means if it fits 'urban' then post it! It doesn't have to be a 'cold' shot

Behind a disused building at an end-of-line train stop. The platform lies in the other side of the fence on the right.

I love the 'mood' that image evokes.
It is encouraging to see more B&W photographs, too. Great job, Andy.

Aye, cheers Thom. B&W is something I have to remember to try now and again.. some pics are lifeless but take on a new quality without any colour.

I got a few more urban-ish photos I would like to share but I'll wait see what direction the thread takes.

I've always been partial to graffiti, especially when done well on unused areas, or making use of the things around it (incorporating sidewalk cracks, fire hydrant covers, etc).

I used to have a neat one of Chuck Norris stencils done at a nearby train station. What was cool was there were a ton of Chucks and a ton of Gokus, and one, just one, Jesus (which had the word OMNIPRESENT stenciled under it). Not sure I can find it though... but I guess I could always go back there and take new photos : )

I've got one here which I think is more in keeping with the landscape aspect to this month's showcase.

It's down in cardiff bay.

Well, this one is cold and, I thought, humorously urban.

No, that's not mine. Just one I saw while I was walking after the snowfall and taking pictures.

Hey, good shots guys.

Yup, I think cars are definitely a part of the urban landscape since you can't get away from them. If only all modern cars were as lovely as Beetles. Design wise they are great to look at, as are most old cars.

I like the sign, Rudy. Presumably applicable in warmer weather, right? What's the tower closest to the vantage point? At first I thought you were referring to that but then I noticed the outline of the CN tower in the distance.

it's the inactive ashbridges bay incinerator smokestack (the body of water in the foreground is ashbridges bay)

in a city of over three million, a lot of toilets flush every day, and about half of them lead here

after a long series of filters, sedimentation tanks, et cetera, the liquid goes back to the lake and the solid matter is trucked away to a landfill site in michigan, usa (along with all of the city's normal garbage)

urban enough for ya?
