New Link Building methods ?

I was in SEO for four years and was out of it for last one year. So now I am again into it. So can someone help me with some of the latest trends of SEO link building ?

Create forum profiles along with your website link

this one is the hottest now a days

linkwheels are getting obsolete these days, google is catching on to it.

Yes, i agree with Asquare, postings on forums are very effective way to build valuable backlinks.

But, its more effective if you keep your business industry in mind while choosing forums to make postings.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Its still best when joining a forum that it is somehow related to your niche or at least where your targeted people are.. But there are still lots of ways other than that. Usually the old tricks still work as long as you try to make it of quality..

Twitter can give you direct traffic but not that much. Google has just thought of including twitter in their search results.

Nothing has changed in these 4 years.
If you have GOOD CONTENT, everything will follow it.
Forum links, directory submission, twitter ....some XYZ will come but the content will always stay ahead.
The best example is WIKIPEDIA.

Ive got to agree with this. At the end of the day good content will bring the links. The whole game of forcing inbound links is not a natural referral process. Take a book analogy. Someone reads it likes it tell there friends to go read it - this is a natural inbound link so to speak. A directory link or one placed manually is a bit like walking down the street someone forces a book in your hand and says read that now.

p.s. This analogy makes sense in my head and probably no one elses, But I cant help thinking the SEO inbound link game is a shortcut to addressing good content at source ie make sure the site has good content the links will naturally follow...

A great way these days would be to use keywordluv, this method will give you a strong link back to your site while posting on blogs of your subject area.
within the name field of the blog reply put in this as example "bill@Photography Social Network"
Bill is my name and my keywords. The keywords will then link to the website you write down within your reply to the blog. This is a great method i find, for directing traffic to my site, give it a go.

Article marketing can be effective, but there's only a few sites that pass a good amount of link juice. Off the top of my head, just Ezine and Goarticles are worth the effort.

Most bookmarking sites have gone nofollow or Google has devalued their influence, but even if you have the greatest content in your niche you have to get it out there for people to see before any viral effect can kick in.

Very much agree with this point of view
The product identified by the site SEO, unique content to write it more difficult to, but very important!

link building is still hot and add up to that the power that social networking sites could bring in to your sites.

I'm just starting out. Is there a good order to start in, ie, links, directories etc
Aldo is there a tool that tells you who links to a website for example one of your competitors?

there are many ways to gain links. You can post on forums or blogs. You can also submit articles, or do many things posted above. Remember the most important thing is having good content on your site!

The web 2.0 will be very efficient to building links of SEO.
The social community sites are playing bigger roles in SEO.
Whatever so, make your website content unique & better, then start your promotional activities as the way you wish.
Keywords are the elements most dominating the Search Engines

Several social networking sites are effective still now. Specially digg and stumbleupon. Linkedin or reddit are also good.

everyone mentions having good content on your site. what exactly is good content if you are a shopping site. If you just list products with good detailed descriptions is this enough?
