Pixel Stretch
Focusing on the Marquee Tool.

Have you ever wondered how this is done ?...

Well actually its pretty simple and lucky for you im going to show you how its done

1) Take a nice colourfull image from either the web or a cd (Im using one of windows XP's sample images)

2) Crop the image so that it isnt like a backround but more in the size of a header.

3) Go over to the marquee tool, then click and hold down the mouse button. This should bring up a few more options to choose from. Select the

4) Once that tool is selected click just off center of the image. While the flashing dashes are there press ctrl+t.

5) This should have made the dashes disappear and a new transform like selection appear. Now by clicking and dragging the middle square to the right/left you should see the image being smeared.

6) Drag all the way to the end of the canvas and hit enter.

7) Now doesnt that look sweet

Play around with this technique and encorperate it in some of your images.

- Just added the wave filter before anyone asks =)

Gah! I was having thoughts about doing a tutorial about this method!

Though, it's very nice and very fun. This is how I make my personal wallpapers. Check my wallpapers in the portfolio of mine.
It's the same method.

This technique is GREAT for creating banners that seamlessly flow with window resizing. You just take each end of a 800pt width banner and do this techniques and then slice and dice....

Cool, this technique is almost similar to the motion blur effect.. but without the *blurry* effect
