Question display:none and SEO

Hi,
I am using css property "display:none" to show my menus etc. is it a bad thing for SEO and can Google penalize my site for using it ?

Please Suggest

It isn't a bad thing for SEO but it is a bad thing for accessibility as it means that some of your visiitors will not be able to access those parts of the menu as they will never get loaded into their browser where they can find them.

Hi,

Felgall is absolutely right. Google and other search engines will not hurt your ranking or other thing due to Display:none but it can create problem for few visitors only and in case of online business each visitors is important. So try to to avoid it.

Well, this is for the submenus when a visitor mouseover a main menu i will show the submenus of that main menu and hide other's submenu. I think this will not be a problem for user accessibility.
