Many doubts
well i have read much about seo and all....
here is one site which is around 6 months old... http://www.nagariknews.com/ ok page rank :it is said it is directly proportional to backlinks...google shows 78 backlinks for it... but its pr is already 5 (mind it backlinks are also not from high quality or high pr sites like blogspot and all...) so is pr all about bank links and pr of linking page Alexa:it is already to 5-6 higher than 3-4 years site....and is ranking 4th or 5th for country top site(even higher than the site which get higher traffic than this)...so does alexa treated it especially?...lol sitelinks ne typical example where people say that sitelink is linked with age of the domain or site....it got all sitelink with in 6 month...Structure of the site is also not that bright. so some serious doubts.... any explanations? |

What are you are doing is looking to gain PR by building links, but rather you should be using PR as a rough indicator for the amount and quality of backlinks. I don't believe anyone says PR is directly proportionate to links.
As for Alexa... take it with a pinch of salt. Like would you would any analytical data. |

Now I would like to have a solid answer for that as well, since I believe to be able to get a high pr with only a few backlinks one is that your links must be of real good quality. But of course there still might be a few reasons that could affect your pr.

plus...
every body bask to be a seo expert just doing some onsite optimization..... i think the identity of true seo expert lies in the ABILITY TO DE-ASSEMBLE things like this.... finding out reason why is that site ranking high or doing so well.... what are they doing different my knowledge tells me that they have bought many paid listing in premiuem sites...but that even is not showing in backlinks... else every normal webmaster does small normal seo now a days... |

![]() well if u say site content that site mustly has content in unicode which is completely non english or latin words.... For your kind information if we go through seo rules,it should not have been indexed for major keyword at first place...leaving for some keywords in its title and some major portion... we all know its quality of the backlink...(from many years)....BUT...checking backlinks it doesnt seem that they have backlinks from so premieum site that their rank jumped to 5(we even know google may not have shown all backlinks...but it doesnt mean that google showed 10% of backlinks only when we checked..)...and they are 5th in alexa in country top list (we know alexa can be manipulated but how to that much extent...) so what have they done in this case? so it is not just matter of normal seo or atleast white hat seo...that is what we are trying to discuss.....i am not trying to learn basics of seo (but agree that own is also a learner and begineer..) |

what i am trying to say is that site is around 6 months years old and ahead in many places for eg alexa....it is in around 5th-6th in top list...it is not that their is no competition i have seen site which has around 1 page impression a day much below it(much aged and they also know seo)..... so there are doubts and somethin must have been cooked.... |

From what I see they have 85 back links on google, I actually went through these sites and there are pages with page ranking of 3 and page ranking of 5 that has a link back to this website. The amount of backlinks can increase your PR but so does the quality of the backlinks. If you have a website that is the same topic as your site with a PR that is higher then its going to raise your PR.
So in this case I believe its quality of backlinks rather then quantity thats driving the PR higher for this site. Here is one backlink with a PR of 5: http://www.fncci.org.np/ |

Well PR is a google specific thing so its up to google not alexa to decide the PR. Unless Im missing something. You have a PR 3 with a few PR 3 sites linking to you, try getting some PR5 links back to you and I would think your PR would go up. I was able to get my site up to a PR 5 when I got PR 5 sites to link back to me. That was a few years ago for a now defunct business, but I think the same still happens.

vaugely if one is to go with the conclusion drawn here...i think my site should have PR of 6 since around 4 pr sites are linking it... so i think analogy that if your site is linked by x pr site ur site also gets x pr is a fallacy... |
