Both are effectively meaningless and a waste of time.
Alexa rank is mostly determined by the handful of people with that toolbar installed and so is easily manipulated. PR is the lowest of the 200+ factors that Google use in ranking pages in their search results so spending the time on any of the other SEO factors will give a better return. At best PR is an indicatior of how successful your SEO effors are. |

For most people google Pr is relevant, alexa is interesting but is easy to manipulate and people does not give it any importance.

IMHO,
what matters is when someone wants to find info they google it. If your site has related relevant content but ranks below top 20 - 30 sites chances are it will not be seen or read and hence purpose for which the content was written doesn't materialize. Its good to rank in page 1 or page 2 / have PR 1 or PR 2 for relevant keywords used while searching for practical reasons. A similar comparison - which one is more nutritious between 20 year old mouldy cheese and grandma's old bed socks.
The answer to both questions is who cares which of the two is better as both are totally irrelevant. |

I think Google PR is more important than Alexa.....
As the market share by Google is more when compared to other Search Engines, and lots of users do depend on Google results than others....So mostly Google PR is considered the important!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Both are different matrix of measurement. But at least PR can influence the serp ranking although it is only part of over 200 matrix that google use. Not sure how important Alex is but people buying or selling websites still refer to them. If I have to choose, it's PR.

Google PR is the most important those who are depending upon google search engine. If your google PR is more your website keywords will be given more priority in Google search Engine. There several factors are in consideration for listing website for a search keyword. However pagerank plays an important role for google search results.
But Alexa is not a search engine. Which monitors the http request and given rank according to the successful http connection. All the http request monitored through the alexa toolbar, if installed. |

I look at it from the other angle.
If you want to monetize your blog through sponsored reviews or selling text links, then Blog PR is extremely important. Blog PR is one of the most important factors affecting your income. If you want to get juicy backlinks, then Google PR is also very important. If you can get a couple of backlinks from PR7 site, that will matters a lot. |

I will go with Google PR than Alexa. Even you have good alexa rankings, it's not sellable. That's why business blog with high PR is great because you can sell it in good price.

You sound like the sort of person who prefers helicopters on their sandwiches rather than submarines on their sandwiches due to sandwiches that aren't soggy being more sellable.

I don't know why your bothering Stephen
When it comes to SEO no-one's going to listen to the one person making the claim that PageRank has little to no value because they've been conditioned over years though bad articles, misinformation and wonky advice shouting at them that the opposite is true. ![]() |
