Health Blog... Ok to Use Caduceus?
I'm in the process of starting a health blog and I would like to place a caduceus (as seen below) in the header image. Although I am not a medical doctor or physician, would it be ok to use even though it's used as the symbol of medical profession? I was planning on putting a disclaimer on the page.
Thanks in advance. |

I don't think you need any medical qualifications to use the symbol. But you should use an image that isn't protected by copyright. i.e, one you created or bought or have express permission to use, or one from the public domain.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fi...pius_staff.svg http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Caduceus.svg The only problems I can think of are if you copy and use someone else's image unlawfully, or if instead of using a "plain" symbol, you use one that looks like someone else's image that also incorporates the symbol. eg. it shouldn't look like the AMA logo or have AMA next to it. |
