Master Your Keywords, Part 2: New Web Sites
Notice: This is a discussion thread for comments about the SitePoint article, Master Your Keywords, Part 2: New Web Sites.
__________ Blogspot blogs, independent websites and The sandbox effect Here one interesting thing I found out. A few months ago I started a log on Blogspot (Blogger) and after posting a few unique posts I found (using Google Analytics) that I was getting 2-3 long tails visitors for my pages within 3 days and almost all my posts were indexed by Google. After 2-3 months I realized that I needed more freedom than Blogger offers and I decided to move my blog to its own domain on an independent server. But after creating this new website and submitting sitemap to google I realized that only 3 of my pages were indexed by Google. This one seems one big disadvantage of having a blog on an independent server and not on Blogspot. Since now my domain name is new, I will have to wait till the website gets some age and authority before it is indexed well by Google. Of course I will be using the tips given by you to improve the indexing and ranking. Thanks for touching this subject. Pritam Barhate ----------------------------------- WebDesignStudent.net |

I have run the blog and see many of new keywords but it seems like the keyword is trends. I monitor, the last week the traffic for those keywords are generating the traffic to our website but for this week, there is no incoming traffic for those traffic. Do you have any idea? using Google trends, sometime is good for checking historical but for the future data, sometime is really difficult to forecast

One way to increase the speed in which Google indexes your blog is to post your blog story URL on digg, delicious, etc. Usually you'll be indexed within 1-2 days.

Even I have noticed that if i were to submit my each and every post to SB site like digg, SU, INdianpad, rambhai etc - my blog post gets indexed asap and it starts to show up on the result page of G's serp's.

I guess they have that trust that new domains don't and google gives them a bonus.

I don't think it's necessarily that they get a bonus; they are simply established, authoritative, continually updating websites. When google crawls their site every hour it knows it's going to find lots and lots of new content. If you were to continually update your own site with real, quality fresh content every hour you would see the google spider visit your own site much more often.

this is one of the most frustrating parts of this SEO business, trying to get noticed by G & others, and STAY noticed! Sometimes a strategy will work great on one site, and fail on another. I've found that by being a "constant gardener" on all of my sites tends to work best for them as a group, even though individual sites might be (seemingly) going nowhere.
I've read a lot of "experts" (real and imagined) who mention that having lots of sites is one way to keep things moving and not get bogged down in one site. I know when I had just a couple of sites I hovered over them daily and worried about their rankings. Now I just build 'em, optimize, and move on to the next site. ![]() |

i also discussed this issue on my fellow SEO that it was clearly seen that blogspot blogs really treat google special than other like wordpress blog, typepad blog, etc..... its more easy to rank in SERP those in blogspot blogs....

I'm a newbie at this but am eating this stuff up -- its all so interesting.
However, how do you actually "do" the following, mentioned in Ken's posting? ("look at") Do you have to sign up for something extra at your hosting company or invest in extra software? I am referring to this when he writes: Look at the inbound links that your content has attracted. How can you build relationships with the people who have given you a link? Look at the keywords that have brought you traffic. Assistance and feedback appreciated! Thanks for your patience. Christine |

I created a new blogger blog 5 days ago, bought a domain and forwarded it to the blogger blog and still now it hasn't been indexed. I don't know about 3 days... its longer.

Great Article! The only way to get your website to the first page of Google or any other search engine is through getting the right keywords. This article has great information, and I think that anyone who has a website should read this article.
