I don't understand your questions sorry.

How does it help what exactly?

And what do you mean by "the best place to blog"? I blog from my couch normally, but I suspect that's not what you were trying to ask.

I can answer the question "why blog?" though. I blog because I got sick of updating a squillion and one social networking sites, and many people couldn't see the sites I was updating as the profiles aren't always public (FaceBook). I also use blogging as a way of conveying information which is updated regularly on websites rather than using a static type system with "NEW" tags stuck all over the place.

Time sensitive news are better managed on a blog. Articles should be kept on a website. For example, if you announce an event for this Saturday and you have that on your website, it's a lot of hassle to manage, just an opinion.

The blog bubble has popped recently. Only authorities or serious writers benefits from blogging. Most people don't care how many times you walked your dog today or if it rained in your neighborhood. I'm glad we're seeing less and less of those.

If you're good at something, a hobby, a subject, or have inside information or willing to spill beans on something then sure, go ahead and good luck.

Blogging could give you a sales advantage if you can give a running commentary on the product/service you are selling, or if there is a steady stream of news about the product you are selling which people would be interested in.

Basically, anything which will get my users to your site and/or get them to return is generally a good thing for sales and blogs can do that - if they're interesting enough.

Blogging helps by providing a sort of "online magazine".

It also helps in promoting something you are selling. e.g. if you sell tennis rackets, and write articles about tennis, you will be getting people to your blog who are interested in your product/service which in turn can turn to sales of your product.

It is also used to raise your profile. Just like some "celebrities" write articles on newspapers, you can have your own online-newspaper.

Think of a blog as a very easy to build and update website. If you add rss feeds to directories and feed sites it gets listed for each new post and can bring traffic to any site or product you write about.

Haha, there are still oodles of useless pet blogs out there. Thats my niche and it drives me nuts to see dead blogs with higher PR than mine.

I normally blog from my couch too. The best blogs are informative, engaging, and have a clear purpose. Lots of businesses have successful blogs which I imagine drive traffic to their sales page.

Only mentionned walking the dog to make a point, I love animals and I'm not disrespecting animal lovers nor pet blogs, I voluntarily run Humane society ads on occasions.

I was refering to those narcisstic individuals who post idiocies such as.

January 6th 2008
"I'm feeling blue today, so I went with my girlfriend shopping then we met some guys for a beer, then we went to sleep"

January 7th 2008
Couldn't sleep last night and couldn't decide if I should just make myself a warm milk or pop a sleeping pill, finally fell asleep at 4:01:02 AM, didn't feel like going to work.

January 9th 2008
Just an argument with my sister and I'm so pissed off, I hate her

and so, on and on, and on

Links are like word-of-mouth advertising. The more relevant links you have the higher authority your blog in theory has so you will be higher in the SERPS. (Search engine ranking pages).

Blogging has turned into an extremely powerful medium. I would recommend a book called Naked Conversations (http://redcouch.typepad.com/). One of the main advantages is it help give your company a personable image. Real people, real thoughts, real emotions, etc., instead of the typical shiny corporate image.

Some blog to make money online.
Others blog the things they like - hobbies etc.
You can put adsense on your blog as long as you dont tackle adult, rx, illegal stuff. Reas the adsense TOS.
