Can RSS feeds drives traffic and increase Blog rankings?
I was thinking if the RSS feeds will generate traffic and high rankings to a Blog?
or is it just the same as the Blog? ![]() And are they considered as duplicate content by SE perspective? Quote:

The problem is that I didn't use RSS to their fullest and I really don't know how to. I see them more as a means for some of my readers to keep up with the content. They just announce them when I have posted something new. I cannot speak about them as traffic. There is still the chance to submit to aggregators and that should get some visits. I am sure some of the more knowledgeable people here will be able to help us more

If you're republishing the content from other sites' RSS feeds then it will be duplicate content and worthless or even bad from an SEO perspective. If you want to put RSS on your blog then it can help the blog grow in popularity but only if you write good content. Just having it is not an SEO benefit.

The main reason it could help your site:
1. Lots of readers of you site choose to add the feed to their newsreader application on their computer 2. Important sites choose to display the contents from your feed on their site and thereby send you traffic 3. Some RSS search sites send traffic to your site (not usually all that helpful). |

Rss feeds can help get traffic and should be used. I would use it to get more people to your site not for Seo it has no effect.

Ok, so last 3 posts say it helps a lot.
Could someone be more specific about how it helps. Where does a major portion of the traffic come from? In my experience, I have not received all that much unless a specific site picked up the feed, or a blog search engine sent some traffic from searches. |

I'd be interested to hear where other people are getting traffic from by having a feed. We've never had any significant traffic from blog search engines. |

You can set it up so that you are only giving a teaser or summary and if the reader wants to see the whole of the content/article they have to visit your site.

If you want RSS to have an effect on your traffic, the content which is provided by RSS must be the most emphasized on your site, plus provide a full feed
