displaying content on a web page via rss/xml???
Hi,
I know i'm a bit behind with getting to grips with rss feeds but you've go to start somewhere...so here i begin. Is it possible to display whole articles onto another website rather than just the link? for example... if i wanted to display this information: here ....which is linked from this xml page: here How do i do it? Apologies for what seems a simpleton question ![]() Cheers |

That is easy.
1. The professional way. Read these books and do it yourself. The top of laziness is to do everything correct from the beginning. 2. The lazy way: Click OopSchool in my signature and scroll down to the heading: "Syndication and importing content to your site." Myself I have used Gecko Tribe. Done in a few minutes. |

Hi,
Well thanks for the links and confirmation that it is possible...but i was hoping for something more specific. Do you happen to know any step by step type tutorials for the task i want to do? I've googled this a few times but have only come across tutorials for adding feeds to your own site rather than reading and displaying the content from another site. Any pointers appreciated. |

Ok, since you are even more minimalistic (read lazy) than me, I scrolled down for you.
Here is a good place to start: GeckoTribe There is (was?) a free and a paid version. Explained here: RSSFeedGuide Example: http://www.skupot.com/sitepoint.php But that is a little more professional, since the code is based on a SitePoint book: Harry Fuecks volume II as far as I remember. I can not code for you. |

HI,
Please don't get me wrong...i went to quite a few of those links in your list but just could find anything specific to what i want to do. I think maybe this is perhaps more involved than i thought and i do need to go back a few steps in order to understand how the whole thing works in the first place. Thank you for the pointers...i'll take a look. cheers |

Related link: RSS - confused
Especially note this in my second post: End Note: Web 2.0 ready browsers, will show the XML file like (similar to) an HTML file.

Very interesting, thanks for this. I'd sure like to know how to parse RSS feeds and reuse them, but I'll have to keep looking....

PM on the way to anyone who wants to know how to parse RSS feeds without sucking down more bandwidth than a fat man at an all-you-can-eat buffet (and before anyone gets upset about the "fat man" reference, bear in mind I'm overweight myself).
I'd post the link here, but the rules against self-promotion apply to the forum staff as well. |

I've tried the Carp tool myself from Gecko Tribe.
With a little help from some friends, it worked. --Don |
