Excellent article John! This made me feel a lot better of setting up my own merchant account this week. I had been using just paypal for several sites, but I needed something a bit more professional for one site that I am developing.

Anyway, I liked how you charted the actual pricing comparisons between the 3rd party processors. Helps capture the real picture of what one would really pay (or save) over time.

hello,

does anyone have a preferred "online" credit card processor for a financial lead site. we sell leads to industry professionals on a monthly basis.

2CO prohibits this. I am looking for something as an alternative to paypal or moneybookers.. I do not want a gateway. I prefer an actual reliable processor who I can also talk to on the phone if a problem arises. I already called 2 others,( Plimus & forgot the other) and emailed them and never got a reply.
