Great article. Although I do have one bone to pick. You mention this:

At what point is a thread junk? Now I could see a topic that is in an on topic area may go astray at some times but we need to remember that a thread is just a onversation and to keep that friendly "community" feel I think you need to be laxed on this. Now in the OT section a junk thread wouldn't even exist, they are all merely for conversation.
