OS X - access dhcp client by name?

Hi,

We've got a couple of mac's going into a router. There is one main computer that has a fixed ip and domain name. What I'd like to do is remotely connect to one of the clients atleast thru AFP and if possible HTTP. What I'm imagining is that (remotely) I type in our hostname but using a sub-domain like:

client1.ourhostname.com

where client1 is a dhcp client getting it's service thru the ourhostname machine.

My questions are...

1. is this even possible?
2. how the ? do I set it up?

I know how to setup apache to handle virtual hosts and I also know how to get DNS setup for each of the virtual hosts. But going thru to the clients seems tricky.

Thanks for any help. Also, does anyone know of a good networking help site?
