There seem to be two main camps on automated checking and too few people subscribing to both of them:
a) Automated checking is useful therefore inferencing that they are the main requirement
b) Automated checks do not cover everything therefore inferencing that they are bad

The thing is for anyone checking accessibility automated checkers are a valuable tool in the armoury. But they are only one tool amongst many, the chief one being the expertise and brain of the person doing the checking.

All said and done I think the article is too much of a knee jerk against automated testing. I think a better message would be use them because they are helpful, but do not rely soley on them.

Auto tools are great in the sense that they give a designer a wonderful starting point. But it's just that, a STARTING point.

The manual checks should always be looked at. Bear in mind, though that manual checkpoints are largely subjective.
