i'm yet to be convinced by flash forms. being one for ensuring user accessibility i'm not a big fan of flash in any form (ha ha, get it?). if a website can't be fully navigated with the use of a keyboard then i'm not interested.

are there any other users out there how feel the same?

I just downloaded cfmx 7 developer and built a flash form and can navigate the form with the keyboard no problems at all. Are you sure you know what you are talking about?

+1 for the keyboard approach, at least you get a good feel for what some people have to go through

flash is wonderful for games (see orisinal.com), but i hate flash as an interface technology, usually the fonts are way too small and fuzzy

Coldfusion is rarely used these days, especially by your average joe, I think they are trying to make a comeback way too late in the game

i'm even not a fan of the flash version of the graphs! one comment i had from a user is "I can't paste the super little graph into my Word doc!".

i guess it does depend on your end-user really - but for public facing websites i do try a stay away from flash if at all possible.

flash forms *can* be as accessible as any other forms if you do enough work on them. The main benefit for flash forms to me is that when you get it to look and work right, it looks and works exactly the same in all browsers. Plus it usually easier to do things like flash remoting than most ajax implementations.

the only way i've been able to use a keyboard with flash forms was by first having to click one of the fields, then the form allowed me to use keyboard navigation.

can you get a flash form's field to be selected when the page loads?

Does this mean you guys at sitepoint will FINALLY start doing more ColdFusion MX 7 tutorials? Given the power and flexibility of ColdFusion MX 7 oh and not to mention the new merger! WOO HOO!!!

So lets get some tutorials pumped out and show people the power of CFMX 7.

Yes, but it takes two steps to make happen. you have to use actionscript in your flash form to auto select a form field on load (this is much easier with the 7.0.1 updater) but thats the easy part, the other thing you have to do is to use javascript to give the flash movie focus when the html page loads. But yes, it can be done.

Is there a place to get more info for these new features? I am using Studio MX and the extension will not install because it's not mx 2004.

Nice to see a little cf coverage. I think a lot of people still dont realize how powerful these new tools are.

agreed. I just wish there was a way to market it the way this ruby on rails stuff is getting coverage everywhere. actually I should say I wish someone would take the time to give it that sort of coverage.

There's a limit on the number of input elements for the entire form. Does anyone have a "work around" for this?
