This is a great article and explains the process very well. Though I would like to see what the effect actually is on server processor load. Yes Slash dot uses it successfully but they also have the cash to dump into equipment others dont have. Sometimes bandwidth is more plentily availble than equipment. Dont get me wrong I think overall that it is a great idea for both conserving bandwidth and speeding up sites but is it really cost effective to use in the long run? I really would like to see a comparison on server CPU loads.
