Talking PR is updating !

Seen PR updated on a couple of datacenters today for a couple of new sites that I have been working on.

You can check your site here
http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/future-pagerank

I also noticed that there has been a backlink updated as well..

I dont really care about the pr update except for the extra "COOP' weight it should bring.

Thanks and have a great new year !!

What if the pr of one of my sites is PR3 on a few servers but PR0 on the rest? Am I going to get a PR of 3?

It usually means that the other datacenters haven't update yet.

well, I hate to say I'm unimpressed. My main site shows 3 while other sites that I've created and not done any inbound link building on also shows 3. Still much to learn in this game I guess.

I have a feeling that the two datacenters showing different PRs are still very incomplete in the PR update. My one page that has had a PR7 for most of 2004 is suddenly showing a PR6, plus some of my new pages that should be at least a PR5 are still showing PR0. At least we know that a new PR update is right around the corner.

Same. My PR7 is dropping to 6 it seems. Could just be the natural dillution of PR as more pages are added to the index.

Maybe, but I added 20,000 pages of content to my site since the last update, and Google has indexed all of those pages and they point back to the main page that has seen a drop in PR. I'm also seeing some of my new pages that have very very few off site back links that are already reporting a PR6. Given the fact that the page that is reporting a drop to PR6 has thousands of off site backlinks and the new page that is also reporting a PR6 has almost no off site backlinks, I tend to think it is simply an incomplete update.

It's not incomplete. It's a change. Dmoz and Google Directory PR went down. The Google Directory main page a point to PR8. The drop from PR10 earlier in 2004 to PR8 now is a big change.

It seems that a lot of my pages which have been PR6 for a very long time are dropping to PR5 on TWO datacentres only, and it's isolated to those two datacentres. Additionally, I find it somewhat unlikely that the pages which have dropped (almost all PR6 pages are showing PR5) will really get a PR5 because of the amount and quality of links they have built.

I think it's either incomplete updates or they are purposely showing these results to throw people off.

It isn't a full update. If it is, they've changed a thousand things in it. I have 3 PR5 backlinks, hundreds (thousands) of subpage backlinks which are PR2-4, and a bunch of forum signatures, and it's saying I'm at a PR2.

Edit: Oh, Yeah, what Chris said last point.

Just another thing: A few other strange things: Apparantly Google.ca will drop to PR8 from PR9 and labs.google.com will drop from PR10 to PR9.

These sites are naturally high PR sites because of their universal links from Google and their high linkcount in general.

All of this seems fishy!

I definitely can't see this being an actual update. They're just messing around with 2 datacentres.

You don't need backlinks to have PR.

"1 site, stayed pr 3"
"1 site, moved 3 to 2" now back at 3
"1 site, moved 0 to 1"
"1 site, remained 0" now up to 2
