Hello Graphic Lovers,
In this tutorial I will show you how you can make a 3D-Mike using Photoshop. I have made this mike using the CS version, it's ok to use earlier version of Photoshop. Step1: Make a Transparent Grid and make a Circled Selection in the middle as shown: ![]() Step2: Don't de-select.. now go to Filters>Distort>Sphereize Ammount: 50, Mode:Normal ![]() Using the same selected area, create a New Layer, fill it with Black and move it under the grid layer and hide it (so you can see the grid). Go back to the grid layer, Inverse your selection (Shift+Ctr+I) and hit Delete (to delete the outer side of the grid) Now you notice the selection of the grid is becomming like a 3d-shape Now De-Select (Ctr+D) ![]() Step3: Now, unhide the black-circle layer.. We want to give the grid some blending effects, select the grid layer, right click on it and select blending options, select the Bevel and Emboss and apply the following settings (leaving the rest as default): ![]() Now go back to the black circle layer, apply Lighting Effects as bellow: ![]() Deselect the circle, you should see something like this: ![]() Step4: Now let's make a white background so we can see everything the way we want.. then make a selection right in the middle of the mike-head (to create the metal section) as bellow: ![]() Then, we want to fill it with a gradient color (black & white) as the following: ![]() ![]() Now de-select and select the black circle layer, inverse your selection and then go back and select the gradient metal layer. Hit delete, the metal shape should now be curved from the top and bottom sides as we wanted. ![]() Last edited by Maher; Oct 6, 2004 at 01:45. |

Continue..
Step5:
Now apply some bevel effects on the metal layer: ![]() To have this: ![]() Step6: Now make the handle of the mike, create a new layer, make a rectagular shape fill it with black. Select>Modify>Smooth (50) Inverse your selection and delete the edges Make a selection again: Select>Modify>Smooth (20) Select>Modify>Feather (5) Inverse your selection and delete the edges again, you should now have a smooth nice handle: ![]() Step7: Drag the handle over to the middle of the head and dubplicate the metal layer and drag it right between the head and the handle. Select the handle and inverse the selection, now go back to the new metal part and hit delete: ![]() Now remove the blending effects which is already applyed on the new metal layer, the final look should be like this: ![]() Step8: Now select the handle layer again, and apply the following blending effects: ![]() Make a little antena "because the mike is wireless " or a cord if you like.Add a white stripe and some text if you want at the bottom of the handle. ![]() You Are Done! I know that was lengthy, but wanted to make sure everyone can follow... oops, my hands are shivering! Hav Phun! Please Rate This Tutorial Last edited by Maher; Oct 4, 2004 at 06:33. |
