Win an iPod in SitePoint's 'Around the World' Photo Competition

From the Eiffel Tower to the Tower of London, from Brooklyn Bridge to the Big Banana, SitePoint Books make a great read any place, any time.

So, when you’re out and about, take a picture of yourself reading your favourite SitePoint book at a local landmark. Send in your snaps, and you could win an Apple iPod!

We are calling on all amateur photographers to buy, borrow or steal a SitePoint book and photograph yourself and the book in an imaginative location. Suitable entries will be displayed on SitePoint.com. As winner, you’ll be sent your very own iPod.

The Prize

One Apple iPod capable of storing 40GB of music and files.
  • Listen to music whereever you go
  • Store up to 10,000 songs
  • Backup your important files

How Do I Enter?
  • Take a picture of yourself with your favourite SitePoint Book.
  • Post your image in this SitePoint Forum thread by September 21, 2004.
  • SitePoint will display the best pictures in the competition gallery.
  • Watch the SitePoint Forums and Newsletters to see if you've won the price!

See full details, terms and conditions.

Woohoo! Fun SitePoint stuff!

So... erm... do those of us in un-interesting locals who won't get out into interesting places for quite some time get bonus points for this? :\

Can it be messed with in PS? (Not huge changes, just cool effects and that kind of stuff)

(edit): Wait, is it going to be the best image or just a random entry?

Wow, this is a great idea for a competition. I would enter, but can't think of a descent location for shots here. Maybe when I go to NZ for a holi.

They mention France, they mention England, they mention the US.. What about Canada? (Just kidding, I don't expect people to mention us)

Would if I could, but I don't have an SP book... or a need for an iPod.

Hey, wait, I've got access to the Space Shuttle and the Apollo missles. Maybe I should give this a shot. How cool would it be to see the books being read in the cockpit of the shuttle

You can post photos that have been messed with in Photoshop however real photos will take priority as far as awarding the prize goes.

Someone asked it, don't think it was answered - is it a randomized draw or do you guys take the best? It was half-answered in post above this one, but I just want to make it definate.

You know what'd be cool? If I jumped from the CN Tower and was reading the book mid air

We will select the best photo as the winner. So it's not random.

Too bad I'm not going to my Cancun House before september, it would be a great place to play around...

I'll give it a shot in Monterrey's surroundings anyway.

I'll also start to MP3 my CD collection, just in case

Great marketing Idea!!

1) Return from the Carribean.
2) Get home and turn on computer to check e-mail.
3) Realize that I got 11 messages that weren't caught by my spam filter. Realize that in one frickin week I got 11 messages. Realize that I have no friends.
4) Think "I wonder what's on Sitepoint."
5) Check forums.
6) See this post.
7) ! The day after the Carribean !
8) Feel down on one's luck.
