Sitepoint Community Forums Awards!

What are the SitePoint community awards?

Everyday many of us post questions looking for answers, feedback or help in general and everyday we offer our knowledge to those within the community for no reason then we all like to learn and equally we all like to teach! We don't expect a reward, a simple thank you is often all we require to make our day. However, The Mentors and Advisors feel that some of you deserve recognition and thanks for the tireless help you provide the community. And to give out that recognition, we stuck our smartest Mentors and Advisors into a room and told them to think of something... However, as we actually needed someone in there, we drafted in a group of monkeys.

The result? SITEPOINT COMMUNITY AWARDS of course!!

OK, this is the hard bit...

How does it work?

Like any other awards (except when you have to actually do something, like... catch a fish...?) the first step is the nominations. Below we have outlined what categories there are, and what, if any, rules apply to each.

Ahh, that word, "rules". Yes, there are rules, and if you break them you get punished, and you'll cry and we just can’t have that. So no rule breaking. We'll cover the rules as we come to them, then we'll summarize.

You can nominate anyone for any award, but you can only nominate 1 person for each category. So that means no matter how much you love, say, swimm5001, you can only nominate him ONCE for "Designer of the Year" and you can not nominate anyone else for that category. Also, you can not nominate yourself for a category but you can nominate someone for more than one award. As a side note, lets keep this fair and don't ask your friends to nominate you or try and buy peoples nominations.

Nominations will commence right now, and will end in two weeks (August 5 2002) where upon the top four nominees (the members with the most nominations, duh) will be selected as the finalist for each category. At this point we will supply a poll which you get to vote on (Remember what we said about keeping it fair people!). You will only be able to vote once for each category, and the poll results will not be visible.

Voting, like the nominations, will last two weeks (August 26 2002), after which the polls will disappear and the monkeys (dhtmlgod, iTec and Sarah) will review the results, and the give out the awards to the lucky winners!

Not that hard really!

How do I nominate?

Nominations are to be COMPLETELY secret! If you nominate somebody then please do not tell them. Likewise if somebody asks you to nominate them then please ignore all such requests. We want these awards to be based on your decision and not on who your friends are.

NOMINATIONS CAN ONLY BE MADE BY PRIVATE MESSAGING TO DHTMLGOD, ITEC OR SARAH.

When sending the private message, please have the category name as the subject, their username as the first line and any threads/posts that are relevant to the award.

These mentors have been cleansed of any need in the world, so trying to blackmail them will not work...the guy that tinkered with their mind said so...

Who you can't nominate/Rules

1. dhtmlgod, iTec or Sarah cannot be nominated for any awards. But if they were would surely win lots of them .
2. Nominations for threads/posts must contain a link to the aforementioned thread/post. Any nomination without a link will be discarded.
3. Please think about your nominations carefully and only nomination those people who is an upstanding member in the community.

If I am awarded what do I get?

A unique, one off, badge will be created for you by the fantastic swimm5001. You will also be able to display your newfound title within your signature and also on your own website if you so wish.

When does it happen?

You can start nominating immediately, nominations will close on the (date) and no further submissions will be accepted.

The poll of the top 4 in each category will be displayed within a week and you will again have 2 weeks to vote your favorite.

The winners will be posted after an official adductor has counted all votes.
