using PHP/MySQL with Dreamweaver MX

Hi, All! I'm having a problem getting Dreamweaver to successfully connect to MySQL on a remote server. I feel like I've tried everything, but I know I haven't or it would be working by now!!

I'm going to go at it a little differently and post the info. I get from my FTP log when I try to test my database connection. If anyone can look at this and give me any more detailed information about the errors that show, please do. I'm having dreams about this at night because I've fought with it for so many days!!!! Here's the FTP log for a test connection:

DWMX has serious problems making a remote connection to a MySQl Server. I'm not excatly sure if they fixed it, but knowing Macromedia I doubt it. I'd search the TechNotes at Macromedia.com and see. But good luck. let me know if you do it. i ended up writing everything by hand.

One thing to watch out for - does that mySQL server accept remote connections, or does it only allow connections from the local web server? (In other words - is DW MX really the problem)?

YES DWMX is the problem. It's well known. Search their newsgroup and you'll find hundreds of messages about it.

Well...I have a claim in for help with Macromedia. If they respond with any good information, I will post it here. Thanks for a direct answer...I haven't seen many of those where this issue is concerned!

OK...I've figured out that where Dreamweaver is looking for the files MMHTTPDB.php.LCK and mysql.php.LCK...

the files that are written in the folder on my remote site are MMHTTPDB.php and mysql.php.

Does anyone know what the .LCK is and why Dreamweaver is looking for it??? And is it on my local computer so that I could just copy it to the remote site manually???

...once again feeling on the verge of a solution, hoping not to crash and burn...
