The remains all date from around 1985 and are believed to be remains of soldiers who died in the Iran Iraq war. They were apparently returned by the Iranians.

Bang goes another opportunity to disgust the American public.

The article by the BBC linked above brings up the possibility that they are soldiers from the Iran-Iraq war in the 80's... However it goes the other way as well and they won't know until the catalogs detailing the identities of the bodies are translated and matched with the bodies themselves.

Ah, alright. *Makes note to read sources listed.*

Still, the above poster made it sound like it was fact when it seems no one knows what happened.

Read past the first few paragraphs in the BBC article. Other theories with supporting evidence found there have been given, too. Like Wayne said, no one particularly knows. If you have something from a more authoritative source, I'd very much like to see it.

I also appreciate your flame-bait, though it could have been so much more creative. I'll give you a four for originality, a seven for artistic delivery, and a six for technical merit.

Exclamation against the Wall*Mart

I'm thinking these remains may have been gathered from a variety of sources - there's evidence that "interrogations" (aka torture and executions) were conducted onsite
