What hosting company for php?

Hi ,
I am currently with fasthosts and getting constant 500 server errors when using php. Even scripts I have downloaded are the same, the file permissions are all locked to 600 and won't allow me to change them and there are no error log files on the ftp which has caused me to lose endless amount of time trying to debug files when I have no idea what is wrong with them.

please let me know what you think

Did you already try contacting customer support?

Yes I have contacted them about 3 times by phone they keep saying they need more time to run some test its been 3 days now and they just keep telling me the same thing and that they do not allow customer access to error log files. What a joke fasthosts are that means everytime there is a bug I have to call them they have to look at the log file they email me.

I have just read on the link below that they are terrible which php and to get away from them. So does anyone know who's the best I need to change urgently.

mm I've only used godaddy for a webhost. I know of several companies who use mediatemple.

I've maintained several sites with fasthosts in the past, on both their basic hosting plans, and a dedicated box, and never had any php issues (other than the ones I put there! ).
The nail in the coffin for fasthosts was taking 48hours to respond to a harddisk failure on the dedicated box.

However, it depends what you want from your host.
I currently use www.web-mania.com for a couple basic sites that aren't critical. They're ok, but their control panel is very basic, and you still don't get any error log access.

However all the more major sites I run are now with www.unitedhosting.co.uk. They're certainly not the cheapest, but the 4x daily back-ups, and excellent support are worth it.
They're now moving to cPanel (all my sites are still on the Parallels Pro panel), you get error log access, and support which have always responded within 30min to any queries I've had.
