SMF forum - Can i replace core files?

Hello, I have an issue with a new forum. certain graphic files randomly do not load. sometimes links dont work. It happens no matter which theme is used.
to trouble shoot, i installed 2 test forums. neither of the new test ones have the issues.

sooo, Im wondering if its the main smf install thats no good... I was told i can just copy over files from the test directory into the main directory...

just curious has anyone done this? or has anyone had an issue with their forum?

I'm not familiar with SMF, but I *can* help by moving this thread into the appropriate spot.

The only things you have to worry about are plugins (if the plugins have added/changed/removed code in the core files), and the config file

Did you perform any updates? I had the same trouble after upgrading to the latest version. Some themes and plugins were not 100% compatible with new version. So I had to downgrade
