    IE6, Winxp, Java? problem

    Hi,

I am running a registered version of coffeecup password software on the company website (www.protouch-uk.com) to restrict access to the trade pricing. So far ot has been great.

However recently I have had a number of customers that cannot see the java. They all seem to be running IE6 and WinXP . I have e-mailed coffeecup for help (today - response upto 5 days) but just wondered if you guys know what is going wrong.

I will post the coffeecup answer when I get it.

    The page is here:

    Thank you,

    Zaph

Microsoft stopped shipping a JRE with their os/browser as of Windows XP. Thise users will have to install a JRE and browser plugin on their own. Yep it's a pain in the ***, but MS wanted to hurt java bad, so they could get more people using .NET.

Is that an applet? If so, you could try using HTMLConverter (included in j2sdk, or available here -> http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/.../htmlconv.html).

It'll create a new HTML page with your applet embedded, only it will prompt the user to download a JRE if he hasn't got it installed. Or if you already know how to do that yourself, perhaps that's an option.

    Ah! That explains a lot.

    What a bunch of C####!

I'll have a play with the converter and see how it goes....

    Thanks for the help,

    Zaph
